He's on a mission to help more Sussex-based software businesses get to £1 million revenue per year. Meet Alice Dewar-Mills Alice Dewar-Mills, is a seasoned commercial director and the founder of Looking Glass Solutions. From her early start at Rolls-Royce during her placement year to her successful stint as a remote worker for nearly 15 years, Alice's journey is a treasure trove of insights and practical knowledge.
Jon recently worked with Alice on one of his client's SaaS businesses. She helped create a far better process and starting contract for the team. They're now far more confident about negotiating high-value deals with customers that outgrow self-service plans. This episode will leave you equipped with a renewed perspective on contracts, negotiation, and remote work. Listen to the interview or read the transcript Learn more about Looking Glass Solutions Check out Better Proposals One of Better Proposals founders, Adam Hempenstall, grew up in Southwick, near Brighton. At the end of last year Adam shared that their revenue was over $2.5 million per year with over 8,000 customers and a team of 24. It took them 6 years of working 100% remote to reach this. As well as building a great product that "helps you make professional proposals in half the time", they take marketing seriously. "These are numbers that are important to us: trial sign-ups are important, traffic is important, churn is important, [the] number of new customers we do a day is important... And as long as those numbers are kind of generally looked after and they're not completely disastrous, we're all good.”
- Adam in a recent interview

Brighton Dynamic from The Skiff Yesterday was the 17th birthday of the company that became The Skiff Ltd's. It took ~2.5 years before the company opened a coworking space so we get to have two birthdays a year. By many measures, the last month has been the best we've had since before the pandemic. The space is buzzing with members new and old. The best thing this week was hearing a member, who joined less than a year ago, say this to a member who joined in 2016: "Yes we pay and have a...
