In my last post I talked about how AI is amplifying the isolation of working from home. Now for a few more things to get humans back in your life...
This week A/C has been fighting against AI driven isolation.
Many members are coming for extra days of coworking at The Skiff to escape the heatwave. Imagine working comfortably in an Air-Conditioned space that's 10 degrees cooler than your home office!
I think he's going to want to move to Brighton after meeting all the awesome people I'm expecting to see there!
Gus is visiting Brighton to attend the brilliant Brighton Ruby tomorrow.
But there are two other huge conferences this week that are going to be bringing together even more wonderful people. Also on Thursday is Create With_ - The UK's flagship conference for people building software, AI agents and automations without code. On Friday you'll find various members of The Skiff in the audience and manning different stands at Evolve 26 (created by the team behind Silicon Brighton):
Shaping a sustainable digital future, EVOLVE brings together students, professionals, and businesses to explore how technology can drive progress - with purpose

This weekend I'm heading to something with my family out in Sussex that's not tech related.
Bignose and Beardy make the best Real Sussex Cider and Vinegar and Cider Spirit and have been hosting fantastic small festivals for over 10 years.
We love their drinks and company so much we help them pick their apples most years and we can't wait to spend the day enjoying the results of that work.
Waking the Cider is giant all-day tap-night with 11 hours of live music, the best local food producers, loads of artist-led craft activities and Bignose and Beardy's biggest selection of real Sussex ciders to taste.
Join us in a tranquil rural orchard at the Cidery in Framfield for a day of music, making, eating, drinking, chatting and community celebration, maybe even dancing in the moonlight...
Hope to see you somewhere away from your home and your screen soon! Jon PS Friday 10th July is going to be another busy day.
🚶In the morning it'll be our 2nd Stripe Community Brighton event - a breakfast walk on the Downs.
🎥 At lunchtime we'll be recording a short film at The Skiff capturing as many members experiences from over the last two decades as we can.
🍾 That evening we're having a special gathering at The Skiff from 5pm to celebrate the 20th birthday of the company that started The Skiff (now called The Skiff Ltd) - I can't believe it's been two decades since I started my first company!
Hit reply to let me know if you'd like to come along to either of those gatherings - space is limited.
A walk on the Downs with like-minded folk (before it gets too hot) can set you up for a productive day
Brighton Dynamic from The Skiff My work has completely changed in 2026. If you're a software developer like me, or you work for a software company, you're probably experiencing this too. For everyone else with jobs that can be done working from home, I suspect the change is not far away. It feels almost as significant as when I started working from home 20 years ago. Somehow I've avoided writing about it in this newsletter up to now. Partly because it's been exhausting keeping up with what...
Brighton Dynamic from The Skiff This Saturday and Sunday are the last two days of The Skiff being transformed into The Imposter Club, venue 20 in the central trail of Brighton Artist Open Houses with 8 artists doing print, illustration, mixed media, digital art, printmaking and more. Such a fantastic open house space! We popped in yesterday and were there for nearly an hour. My kids loved it, are still talking about it and finally think that I work with cool people - Alice DM "i went to a...
Brighton Dynamic from The Skiff Most billion-dollar companies make me nervous. That’s especially true when a small business has to depend on one of them. But for more than a decade, almost all my income has flowed through one billion-dollar company before reaching me. Four of the SaaS businesses I helped reach $1 million in annual recurring revenue used it. The Skiff has collected £1.95 million in coworking membership fees through it too. That company is Stripe. So when they invited me to...
